The on sale date for The Heist has finally arrived! The first stop on my 2014 media tour was NBC’s Today show. I got the chance to talk about the book, my own theory for what really happened to the painting at the center of it, the possibility of an Gabriel Allon movie, and my summer reading picks. Watch the full interview here:
I’d like to thank everyone who came out to see me last night at the first event of my tour. I look forward to seeing my New Jersey fans this afternoon.
There are just a few days left before publication of The Heist. As my newsletter subscribers and Facebook fans already know, the preface and first chapter are now available to read here on my website and as a download from iBooks.
For the first time ever, I’m also making the first chapter available early in audiobook format, courtesy of Audible.com. You can play the except, performed by George Guidall, using the player below. To pre-order the audiobook in its entirety, please click here.
With one month to go until publication of The Heist, I’m very happy to share the preface, which gives you a sense of where the story begins. The only other thing I can share for now is that immediately after reading this page, you will be transported to the gallery of the eccentric London art dealer Julian Isherwood who is about to find himself in a bit of trouble.
On October 18, 1969, Caravaggio’s Nativity with St. Francis and St. Lawrencevanished from the Oratorio di San Lorenzo in Palermo, Sicily. The Nativity, as it is commonly known, is one of Caravaggio’s last great masterworks, painted in 1609 while he was a fugitive from justice, wanted by papal authorities in Rome for killing a man during a swordfight. For more than four decades, the altarpiece has been the most sought-after stolen painting in the world, and yet its exact whereabouts, even its fate, have remained a mystery. Until now…
I am very pleased to share the tour schedule for The Heist. As always, we tried to accommodate as many of your requests as possible, but for those cities that did not make it we will try again next year. All of the events are listed on the page found here.
For those of you who can’t make it to an event this year, there is a limited signed first edition available from Barnes & Noble. To pre-order your copy, please click here.
I am thrilled to share with you the cover of my next Gabriel Allon novel, The Heist:
We will share more details in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, I will leave you with the book’s tagline: sometimes the best way to find a stolen masterpiece is to steal another one . . .
I look forward to sharing more with you soon. For now, I have a book to finish!
As promised, here is the title of the NEW Daniel Silva book starring Gabriel Allon:
Sometimes the best way to find a
stolen masterpiece is to steal another one…
